The city of Clearwater now offers Parkmobile, a new app that enables you to pay for all beach and downtown parking via a free mobile app. Parkmobile offers an easy, alternative payment option to cash and coin. Pay from any smart phone, mobile device or the website. It is parking made simple. More information about Parkmobile can be found at parkmobile.com.
How do I use Parkmobile?
The first step is to register with Parkmobile. Visit parkmobile.com or scan any QR code at the parking meter location to begin. Customers may also access their smart phone app provider to download the free Parkmobile app. When registering, a credit card is required.
How does it work?
- Look for the Parkmobile sign or sticker.
- Use the Parkmobile mobile app or mobile website to enter in the zone number listed on the sign, and choose your parking duration.
- Instead of placing a receipt on the car dashboard or feeding the meter coins, your vehicle license plate will serve as the credential through Parkmobile to prove that you’ve paid.
- You can opt-in to receive a notification 15 minutes before your parking session is set to expire.
Is there a fee for using Parkmobile?
Yes, a convenience fee of $0.35 will be charged to non-residents for each transaction using Parkmobile. Residents who live in the city limits of Clearwater will not be charged any transaction fees for this service. Please see the ParkMobile Resident Discount Parking Program web page for instructions on Proof of Residency Process and how to register for this benefit. (The city must validate following registration that the address is in verifiable city limits using the Pinellas County Property Appraiser’s website.) Transaction fee waivers will be valid for one year, at which time Parkmobile will review your account and confirm your continued residency.
Will Parkmobile be available in City of Clearwater surface lots and garages?
Parkmobile is available for all City of Clearwater on-street parking meters, pay-and-display meter locations and surface parking lots. The Parkmobile service will complement the existing payment methods on those lots.
How Will Enforcement Officers Know That I've Paid?
Parkmobile payments do not integrate with the meters in this area. While your payment will not show on the meter, the officer will use your license plate number and zone number to view your Parkmobile payment on a handheld device. As such, please make sure to add any additional license plate numbers to your account before creating a parking session to make sure your parking transactions are correctly created.
Zone Number Information and Range
Zone numbers are a critical part of your transaction and must be recorded correctly in order for your parking session to be identified correctly by the parking enforcement officers. Zone numbers vary by lot. You MUST identify your Parkmobile zone number from the blue or orange Parkmobile signage located in your parking area to ensure you start your session correctly. In the parking areas for Clearwater, zone numbers range from 9401 to 94103.
Parkmobile Phone Number
The Parkmobile toll-free phone number to reach the automated system to register and/or start or extend your parking sessions is (877) 727-5714, or (877) PARK-714. If you are parking in Clearwater and call any other Parkmobile phone number, you will be at risk parking in a zone in the wrong geographical area, and the parking officers in your area may not see your parking payment.
Payment Methods Accepted
The payment methods accepted are Visa, MasterCard and American Express.
Can transactions in zones in this area be extended or stopped?
You cannot stop a session once it is started. You must select the amount of time you want in advance and pay for that time with your credit card. If you chose more time than you needed, you will not be able to stop the session or get a refund.
You are able to extend your parking time, if you see that you need more than the amount you initially paid for, as long as you haven't already selected the maximum allowed. In order to extend a transaction, it must still be active and not yet expired. Note: extensions are separate transactions, and therefore each extension carries a transaction fee as well.
What do I do if I get a parking citation?
Parkmobile does not own, operate, manage or enforce the parking areas. The city enforces its parking regulation and issues tickets to those who violate the parking lot regulations. To dispute a citation, follow the instructions on the ticket or call (727) 298-3660. You can log on to your Personal Pages online at parkmobile.com to obtain a receipt for your parking session to include with your dispute.
